One of the most visited spots in the heart of Vancouver Island in Canada is Cathedral Grove – a stand of massive old growth trees just outside of the Alberni Valley. These giants are awe inspiring and easy to access. This video shows the largest Douglas Fir in Cathedral Grove from bottom to top. It is 230 feet or 70 meters tall. It is difficult to understand the scale of the tree without context but the base of it is roughly 10 feet (3.048 meters) wide, and it has a circumference of 30 feet ( over 9 meters).
